Unit 2E: My Review

Through this event I was able to learn how to promote events through social networking allowing me to perhaps consider self promoting in the future instead of getting others to do it for me. It also showed me that I can plan events and work well with others proven from my feedbacks.

The event also allowed me to test out my new found confidence as I was able to approach people and sell the event to them because I got quiet a few people to come over and even allocate them to empty events. It is also shown in my feedback from my team.

Doing all this made me want to be in the more productive side of filming in all sectors from making to selling which is proved by myself appearing in the documentaries and interview by Dan during the even.

Doing all this help me improve my skills, such as teamwork as I worked with people well marketing and we were able to inform people on time. Independent working skills by creating the invitations on my own and uploading in on Facebook. Time management from making the invitation on time. My people/communicating skills was hugely improved as when recruiting people I was able to convince them to come down and I informed them by speaking clearly, being friendly and giving them the right information, such as time, why we are doing it, what we have to offer and what they should do it. Doing all this has also prepared me for doing future events and working with people in the future and I will use all the skills I gained from working at the event.

Unit 2D: feedback

Day Nine: Event
Date: 9th November 2014
Time: 12:00 – 18:30
Session held: Blue Hippo Studios

When we got there we had to help set up. I was asked to create posters and put them up in order to inform people about what’s happening. As I already did my job I helped people with there’s and set up by putting out chairs.

When I finished helping people set up, I was then asked to go around to recruit people to go and try
out our workshops. It was quiet hard at first as people were unsure but I grew more confident and moved round the mac asking people to come, which they did, this boosted my confidence and allowed me to persuade more people to come.

Well I was recruiting I was asked to be interviewed again however this tome by Dan. Where he asked me what my role was, the name of the event and what I was currently doing, which was recruiting.

Carys who was another recruiter had the idea of one of us staying as when people got to the workshops there was nobody to greet then and allocate them to empty workshops, which I offered to do. I found out which stalls were free and directed people to them and informed them about the BFI.

We did this from 13:00 to 15:30, and then we cleaned up and made our way to the cinema to see our animated intro, the documentary and the short movie.

.

I got to see it with everything else, which made it look very professional and made me very happy, as I was a part of all four section (animated Intro, 3 documentaries and editing of short trailer).

At the end we had a mini award evening, where we received awards for thing, which we are expected
in the future. I received the award for “Most Likely to win a BAFTA” which was brilliant as I worked along side a BAFTA winner and hope to win one.

Fahima ensures the even took place without hiccups. A great organizer and really great interpersonal skills, a pleasure to work with.

Fahima approached people confidently in order to recruit them to our event. She was enthusiastic and presented the event well - encouraging many people to participate.

Unit 2A: role and planning

On the day of the screening we would all create work shop classes on the thing we learnt to teach our friends and family as well as other visitors of the mac allowing us to help teach people about making films and even perhaps inspire them to try.

We started of by getting into small groups creating ideas of what kind of work shops we would want. We came up with things like green screen, photo booth, animation booth and more. The ideas started to circulate, which lead to job roles. As we didn't have time left we went home to think about it. Doing this allowed me to build my teamwork skills as I had to come up with ideas and share as well as listen to other peoples ideas and help them develop it, which is what you do when planning in a team.

In order to be a good leader, you must be able to work well with your team mates and make sure the sector you are running is running smoothly, and help as much as possible, as well as think of ways to make it better for your team and the people you are helping. I hope to be able to do these things in my sector at the event.

From the event I wanted to see how the promoting side worked and how to create new ways to sell the event. We were told that on the day we would have to pick up another role as our job would be done before the day of the event and I wanted to try recruiting with my new found confidence. I felt that this would help improve and develop my people skills and my selling skills.

Unit 2C: delivering project.

When I got home I created an invitation for the event using Photoshop, it included information and time. I found it easy to use PhotoShop as I had used it before so this part was relatively easy, it just took tome to crop the camera using the magnetic crop tool to make it look more attractive and professional.

I took a few goes as I sometimes missed out spelling and the information so when I showed it to the others they pointed it out, which allowed me to correct my errors before I was to allowed to put it up on the internet, to make it more professional.

When it was done I uploaded it on a Facebook event, which was created to inform family about the event. However it had to be remade as the one which was made was private and you had to be invited so when it was changes someone else uploaded the invitations for me.

this part was more independent then teamwork as I did ask the others for their opinion and kept them updated on what I was doing however I had to make sure the invites were done on time and I had to put them on the events page, giving everyone plenty of time to see it and show their friends an family. This meant a lot of time management skills, but I had done it. This was a great achievement as I had never worked on marketing projects before and doing this gave me the experience and confidence to di it again, if ever needed.

Unit 2B: plan and practical

I wanted the role of producer as I'm very organized and have lead people in other things like the Mosaic competition in which we sold an idea to panel. However the spot was taken by someone else, this lead me to try out marketing as I always lead and I wanted to try promoting.

I was put in a team with two other people and we each chose a role. I chose to make and invitation as I had a general idea of what to include and how to lay it out. We created a Facebook group chat in order to inform each other about how much we had accomplished and what e had left to do as well as give and receive any help.

Jacob and Ellie were the other members. Jacob was to create poster well Ellie had to get help and inform people about the event through social networking. We kept talking to each other as we couldn't meet again until the actual day and we had to make sure people knew about it and the other members had something to put on their social network pages.

Doing this allowed me to see the work needed to be put in, in order to make sure the event has been sold. Planning is important, making sure people know who's doing what and when things need to be completed by, we had the plan of completing it by Saturday to put it up and give people 24 hours to inform people as we didn't have a lot of time. Time management skill is also very important in this part as you have to make sure your part is done by the eight time so you don't let your team down.

Unit 1A: My strength and weaknesses

My strength:

My ability to create has always been their. From GCSE I realized I have a flair for things like editing and story boarding ideas. This is due to my love of English which allows my inspiration flow. I feel that I can work with people too, I when having to work with people I know what they are good at and how I can bring it out of them. This is something I realist mainly last year aster working with people who weren't as confident as myself so I became the producer and found them roles which would benefit both myself and them.

It I something that's always bee there but it really comes out when I' filming. my ability to bring people ideas to reality is also something I'm good at, which I am currently working on as I am helping a friend create a short movie on an ongoing project. I hope to strengthen these skills by working with professional who do these kinds of things as a job. I feel by working along side professionals will allow me to see what is expected of me if I chose to either be an editor or producer.

My weakness and how to improve:

Well working I have realized I don't have much knowledge on the equipment's, I know the basics of a camera, a tripod however I don't know anything else and hope to learn more about them. another thing I haven't done much of is being in the more productive side of making things like animation, I have not got much experience with cameras and lighting as well as other equipment and I hope to learn about them.

In order to gain more knowledge on equipment and do more productive work I will put myself forward when given the opportunity to work with equipment as I know from the schedule we will get the opportunity to learn about equipment's and I will pay attention to those days. Also to become more productive I will be more involved by going to the optional dates and push myself to work on projects, which I haven't done before.

Animation is something I have never tried and would like to have a go at it. As explained before I am in planning process and editing and have never been keen on being on camera as o feel very self-conscious, my confidence does sometimes shy away which is something I need to develop as in the industry I know you can't be shy so I hope to be more out going and involved in the making of films and even appear in scenes.

I will try to work with people who know more about animation than me and I will involve myself as much as possible in the teamwork tasks and even take on my own responsibility by working independently when needed. To appear in footage I will nominate myself if given the opportunity.

Why I applied:

The main reason I applied is to work with people who share the same passion for media as I do as in college people aren't as committed as I am and only work to get the grade, I know that the other member chose to be there in their holidays too and I would never get another chance at this age to work with people who could really help me improve my strength and help me with me weaknesses as I don't know anyone else who has ben in the industry because I am the first in my family. I realize that this will not only educate me but Allow me to gain a hands on experience, which I may not get again until I'm older.

Getting the chance to work with professionals will help guide me to a profession best suited for me or even one I haven't thought of myself and it will help me gain skills and allow me to try out the more technique side, which I haven't done much of yet.
